All that JAZZ! runs from February 29 to April 3, 2024.
A is for Abstract! Yes, you read it correctly, All that JAZZ! is a show about the A word – Abstract – art. This is an opportunity for the misunderstood sister in art to show her many faces.
This definition pops up in Google: “Abstract art does not attempt to represent an accurate depiction of visual reality but instead uses shapes, colours, forms and gestural marks to achieve its effects.”
Artists and photographers who consider themselves as representational also entered their abstracted images. There are many abstracted landscapes and still life paintings that are clearly not “an accurate depiction of visual reality.” Photographers can capture the most inspiring shapes, forms and colours.
