    Devised Theatre Nights

    with our Dramatist-in-Residence!

Beginning on Tuesday, October 20 from 6:30 to 9:30 pm, join the Heliconian Club’s Dramatist-in-Residence, theatre artist, performer and facilitator, Alie Rutty, at Heliconian Hall for an immersive devised theatre experience!

The weekly sessions are free and open to Club members and staff, friends and the public.

In devised theatre, the performance is created from scratch, without a script, through improvisation and collaboration by the performers. It can be inspired by a song, a painting, or whatever theme is of interest to the creators. Performances can combine theatre with music, dance, multi-media art, and more!

Over the course of seven evenings, participants will collaborate with each other to create their own theatre piece – while also improvising in character throughout the process. This initiative is designed to be immersive and open-ended and aims to unleash natural impulses, get people out of their comfort zones, and encourage anyone and everyone to create.

No experience is necessary to embark on this experimental theatre adventure!

Come for one session, many sessions, or just to watch our big performance on December 8th.

Participants and audience are always equally welcome, and no one will be pressured to perform if they'd prefer not to. This series is geared for adults, but children under 12 can participate with an attending adult.

We look forward to seeing you!
