Canadian dancer, choreographer Lata Pada shares her creative journey of recent works, where she explores new boundaries in re-imaging Bharatanatyam, a classical South Asian dance form in dance works for today's global audience. She is the Founder and Artistic Director of SAMPRADAY Dance Creations, an award-winning Canadian dance company. She also heads its Dance Academy, Canada's premiere Bharatanatyam training organization.
Lata has had an extensive, international career as a Bharatanatyam soloist. She holds an MFA in Dance from York University. She is also a recipient of the Order of Canada (2009) and has the distinction of being the first South Asian artist to receive the Prevasi Bharatiya Saman (2010) by the President of India and many prestigious awards for her outstanding contribution to the arts in Canada. The Salon will take place on Tuesday, April 19 at 7:30 in the Hall.
