New Members Art Show, Sept. 7- Oct. 4, 2023
Encounter 2023 features two new members and takes a refreshing look at our historical context.
This show is typically a debut for new members. For the first time, the new members will be joined by experienced members, to re-encounter themselves as they once were. Some will also illustrate their artistic journey with pieces from then and now. Call it a micro-retrospective! Sometimes we do not want to go back and at other times we wish we could. Does this apply to our art? Come to the reception to discuss!
Naomi's primary intention is to evoke a “conversation” between art and the viewer; her style is in the “sensationalist” tradition, using raw materials, mixed media and sanding techniques to express emotion. Naomil is a registered school psychologist who has worked on emotional resilience with children and adolescents for the past 20 years. Naomi has a background in art therapy.
Brianna loves symbolism, realism and abstraction. Human form, landscape, animals, mark making all show up on her canvas. In her young life, she attended a performing arts school as a dancer, where she also was taught painting, printmaking, batique, costume design and sculpture. She went on to practice law and raise a family. Brianna values art making as a healing practice.
