The Heliconian Music Section annually pays tribute to our Planet Earth, with a varied program dedicated heart and soul to turning the tide on the health of our environment.
The program will include Songs from the Aviary by E.K.R. Hammell sung by soprano Kathryn Rose Johnston, and the world premiere of Heartwood, texts by Kate Marshall Flaherty and music by Jana Skarecky, performed by mezzo-soprano Chelsea Cushman and pianist Dora Krizmanic. Singer/songwriter Taivi will perform her piece Carter Bay, and pianist Ruth Kazdan will play In a Landscape by John Cage. Kye Marshall will play Three Improvisations about Nature, and Meiko Ando will dance to the first movement of Jana’s Sonata for Viola and Piano, played by Velma Ko and Louise Morley.
